Fable

Hoping Fable will be out again before Christmas.

Banned for 12 days by the US government and no end in sight. (Fable 5 was banned on June 12, 2026.) Anthropic must be livid. The block is obviously anticompetitive. With so much going on between Anthropic, OpenAI and the US government, this cannot be coincidental. And the fact that nobody has heard anything indicates to me that they are stalling intentionally to allow OpenAI and others to catch up in terms of their model performance. Claude Code CLI is much better than Codex, especially with Fable.

Postponing Fable 5’s release will do nothing for security. All it does is give lagging AI companies the opportunity to catch up with Anthropic.

Update — June 26, 2026

This is OpenAI catching up.¹

This plays like an actual movie.² So anticompetitive. There better be some resolution with the Fable 5 ban so Anthropic can keep iterating. They are so shameless about this.

Anthropic's progress is being rate-limited by the US.³⁴ OpenAI is in the US government’s pocket⁵because they agreed to do what Anthropic would not.
